Winning streak.....
Match day 44
Location: Teens Challenge field
Time : 1000 hrs
Opponent: Team TCC
Saturday was business as usual for Skopet Football Club. Against Team TCC, Skopet FC wasn’t able to play their usual fluent galactic soccer but was able to nick in 2 goals in the first half.
TCC was collectively a team of hardworkers and great stamina which most of the Skopetians lacks (including me), but make it up with great technical abilities (including me).
Under the scorching hot sun, the match started off with both team trying to stamp their authority on the game. But Skopet, boosted by previous wins, drew first blood. Right winger Saliman aka Abang Sal, collected the ball and with a glance to Syahir Gremlin, loop the ball into the penalty box. That alerted left winger SopEmpet who darted into the box and collected the ball on the bounce with a thumping header over their goalkeeper and into the net. Second goal was sheer brilliance by Abang Sal. Boosted by his glorious assist to the first goal, he collected a miss pass by the opponent’s defender, played a short one-two with Syahir Gremlin before letting out a scorcher into the left hand side of the post. 2 goals in 2 games for the young rising star.
The rest of the game was pretty even .Skopet , buoyed by the 2 goals, pressed on while TCC did not lose hope and pushed on to find the elusive equalizer. In the 2nd half, the burning sun was taking a toll on the Skopetians, with Rizman crying out ‘ semput’. TCC had their fair share of possessions and opportunities on goal. However, with our cyborg defenders, marshalled by the ever reliable Eng Choon and on-form Husni in central defence, we were able to keep it tight at the back. A one-on-one opportunity with Rudy Bigalow was expertly blocked by our keeper in-command.
However, our strikers were having an off day. Syahir, not a natural striker, was a subdued figure on the pitch. Nonetheless, he shone when being reverted back to his midfielder role. Herman Toyol wasn’t his usual self with disarray passes and first touches. Fadhli aka BabyBear, our captain, missed a glorious chance to score at the final seconds of the match when Abang Sal crossed in a superb pin pointed ball to his forehead but he squandered the chance.
Kudos to the defenders and midfielders for carrying the team. And for the strikers, BUCK UP OR UR OUT!!.....
Signing out,
Young rising star.
